Potentiometric and Spectroscopic Studies of Some Sodium Tris(Catecholato) Metal (II) Complexes.

Abstract
The synthesis of sodium tris(catecholato)metal (II) complexes was carried out. The divalent metal complex compounds are insoluble in most common organic solvents except acetone and dimethylsulphoxide. The complex compounds are fairly stable as they decomposed within a temperature range of 320 – 352oC. Infrared (IR) studies confirmed the coordination of catechol to the metal atoms. Potentiometric analysis revealed 1:3 (metal:ligand) stoichiometry for all the complex compounds.
